### Continuing Education Session Summaries:

1. **Oaks Product & Services Update:** Oaks continues to expand its product offering in response to customer and project needs. This session reviews the latest additions, including the Bonaire square textured unit, the Beaumont paver line, pedestal-set products, new modular sizes, the shot-blasted Ferro finish, and expanded Elite Finish and ColourBold options.
2. **Finding Balance Between Place and Movement using the Woonerf Concept:** Woonerfs rebalance streets as places for movement, commerce, gathering, and everyday life. This session traces the concept from its introduction in the Netherlands in the 1960s to contemporary applications, using successful and unsuccessful examples to examine design components, lessons learned, and regulatory considerations.
3. **Rooftop Applications: Selecting the Proper System:** As rooftop terraces become more common, paving systems must address hydraulic and structural design, safety, climate, aesthetics, and long-term access to the membrane. This session reviews material quality standards, loading and thermal conditions, surface and subsurface drainage, slopes, and the advantages and limitations of common installation practices.
4. **Design, Construction and Maintenance of Permeable Pavements:** This session presents current advances in permeable pavement design as outlined in the ASCE standard. It connects recent NorthAmerican research with practical guidance for preliminary evaluation, onsite testing, pavement structure design, construction, and routine or remedial maintenance under varying stormwater, traffic, and subgrade conditions.
5. **Retaining Walls are More Than Just a Line on a Site Plan:** Municipalities increasingly expect site-specific retaining-wall information during site-plan review. This session moves beyond generic wall lines and typical sections to examine wall batter, loading, guards and fencing, planting requirements, elevations, and site constraints, supported by innovative segmental retaining-wall solutions for challenging conditions.
6. **Stabilized Backfill Creates All New Opportunities for SRWs:** Stabilized backfill expands where segmental retaining walls can be used and provides enhanced stabilization where privacy fences, traffic barriers, limited space, or difficult site conditions must be accommodated. The session explains the material, its function within the wall, available design resources, and lessons from built examples.
